Weldex 2019 opened today to thousands of welding professionals and special guest Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Military-Industrial Complex.

The 19th annual international exhibition of welding materials, equipment and technologies – Weldex – welcomed thousands of welding professionals sourcing new equipment and suppliers.

Among the visitors was special guest Oleg Ivanovich Bochkarev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Military-Industrial Complex, who took part in the session ‘Problems in Russia’s welding industry and ways to resolve them’, which garnered a lively discussion.

The panellists discussed the dependence of the Russian welding equipment market on international manufacturers and imports of welding products, issues of lack of training for workers, engineers and scientists for various industries using welding technologies, and standardisation issues in welding quality control and the possible application of European standards.

Other events attracting the crowds on the opening day included a round table on robots and automation in agile manufacturing, and numerous practical workshops.

As part of the VIP tour of Weldex 2019, Mr Bochkarev visited exhibitor stands including Technotron, NPF ITS, Uraltermosvar, NITI Progress, and Technosvar KS.
