Public organization MMAGS (Moscow Interbranch Association of Chief Welders) was founded in March 1989 and is the oldest public organization in Russia (and former USSR countries) that unites welding specialists.

MMAGS is a non-commercial public association (Business Club) of chief welders, chief metallurgists, chief technologists, chief designers, chief engineers and persons equated to them. At the present time MMAGS includes more than 200 industrial enterprises of Moscow, Moscow region (MMAGS also includes several enterprises from neighboring regions (Ryazan, Ivanovo, Nizhny Novgorod), which have blank, welding, metallurgical and assembly production, technological processes of soldering, metal coating, painting. MMAGS members are chief specialists of a number of research, industrial and academic institutions, as well as heads of departments: welding, metallurgy, metal working and technology of materials from 17 higher technical schools of Moscow and the Moscow Industrial Region.
