RUSSIAN MARKET OF INDUSTRIAL ROBOTS INCREASES 42% IN 2018

The Russian market of industrial robots grew 42% to reach 1,007 units purchased in 2018

Russian business publication Vedomosti cites the figures from the National Association of Robotics Market Participants and a report from the International Robotics Federation.

Russia currently has five robots per 10,000 industrial employees, significantly less than the global average of 99 robots per 10,000 workers. There’s plenty of scope for further growth for the Russian market.

Industrial robots are most often used for the automotive industry in Russia, which purchased 390 new robot devices last year – almost half the annual total. Following the automotive industry is the engineering market, which uses 16% of all similar devices, followed by the food industry.

Only 4% of the purchased robots were Russian-made. On average, a system of industrial robots costs from 60,000 to 180,000 euros, with a payback period of around three years.

It’s most often the leading market players in Russia who use industrial robots, such as Rollton or Danon. Robotic systems are almost always purchased by private businesses rather than state-owned companies, as they place more importance on reducing costs.
